About
This program prepares prospective Texas Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Interns to understand the LCDC pathway from eligibility and application through supervised practice and examination. It explains the roles of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas Certification Board, the education, practicum, work-experience, and supervision requirements, and the IC&RC Alcohol and Drug Counselor exam used in the licensing process. Learners will also study ethical practice, documentation, client assessment, treatment planning, and professional boundaries relevant to addiction counseling in Texas. Requirements and forms can change, so participants will learn how to confirm current standards directly with HHSC before applying.
